What Is Included in Trend Analytics for Reddit?
The tools included in Trend Analytics for Reddit are presented in four tabs at the top of the app’s home page. They are: Top subreddits, Subreddits comparison, Posts, and Keywords.
At the top of each section, users can toggle between time period, type of device, the user’s gender, and the location.
Top Subreddits
The Top subreddits tab is the first of four tabs on the Trend Analytics for Reddit home page. Users can take advantage of collected data on engagement, activity and trending topics across the social media giant’s 1,000 most popular subreddit pages.
- Curated directory – The Top subreddits tab helps to identify communities for all sorts of activities and niche interests. Taking part in discussions on these subreddits can provide endless insight into what these communities want, information that marketers can use to push their company’s products or services.
- Track trends – Stay on top of which subreddits are most popular with any given community. The app ranks subreddits on how much engagement they get, or how popular they are.
- Marketing research – By reading threads and topics on subreddits that are aligned with their business, marketing teams can identify strong opportunities for content creation, advertising, and community outreach.
- Show only new – App users can turn on the Show only new option to only see the subreddits that have appeared in the last month.
The Top subreddits tab lets you sort the 1,000 most popular subreddits of a given month. You can organise the subreddit ranking by the number of visits, the number of unique visitors, events per visitor, how they are trending, and changes in engagement.
Subreddits Comparison
The second tab on the Trend Analytics for Reddit is the Subreddits comparison tab. The feature lets users harvest insights on up to four different subreddits at a time. By comparing different subreddits, users can more easily make informed decisions on future marketing campaigns.
- Identify key subreddits – The Subreddits comparison tab lets users assess engagement statistics across numerous Reddit channels. These comparisons allow for making informed decisions about which subreddits are best for investing marketing teams’ time when researching their target audiences.
- Monitor interest – Directly compare different subreddits’ interest over time, tracking the number of non-unique visits for a selected period. You can also take a look at each subreddit’s top five posts.
- Data-driven engagement – Comparing different subreddits over time will help you predict when one channel might get more visits than its rivals. Marketing teams can use these valuable insights to build forward-looking strategies to find growing subreddits or see when they begin to decline.
Use the Subreddits comparison tab to compare the performance of up to four of the top 1,000 subreddits.
The subreddits will be compared in a graph with four different lines, each in a unique colour that allows users to follow their performance over the last month.
You can also toggle to view how the different subreddits have trended in comparison to each other over the previous three months or six months.
Posts
The app’s Posts tab ranks the top-performing posts and individual pieces of content on Reddit. The tab lets users track viral content by a number of different metrics, such as unique users and how the post is performing, among others.
- Measure the visitor-to-post ratio – The Posts tab will let you compare which posts have reached the largest audiences. Tailor your interactions to wide-reaching channels where thousands respond to individual posts, or where niche, highly-interested communities interact with greater intensity.
- Get to the heart of the matter – By diving into Reddit's most visited posts and their statistics, users can better understand the audience’s interests and leverage those insights to create more effective and engaging content.
Like the Top subreddits tab, the Posts tab allows users to monitor the best performing posts across the 1,000 subreddits monitored by the Trend Analytics for Reddit app. You can sort their order in exactly the same way, ranking them by everything from unique visitor numbers to changes in trend behaviour.
Keywords
The Keywords tab helps analyse the frequency, context, and trending direction associated with specific keywords. It allows users to tap into previously unknown communities that are discussing or using a specific keyword regularly, marking them as a potential target audience.
- Join active discussions – Use the Keywords tab to find new discussions where a given keyword or phrase is being used regularly. Users can find new subreddits to join and contribute to.
- Spot emerging trends – Regular use of the Keywords tab will help users track which words or phrases are rising in popularity. As a keyword’s use begins to grow, marketers can jump on that bandwagon and start producing content suited to match.
- Monitor keyword performance – Marketers can also use the tab to monitor the performance of certain words or phrases over set periods. This means users can measure the impact of campaigns and make informed changes about what changes need to be made.
The Keywords tab lets users compare the behaviour of up two different keywords at a time. As in the Subreddits comparison tab, you can monitor the popularity of two different keywords over the previous month, three months, or six months.
Drilling Down
In each tab, users can also drill down into the date to identify trends and interesting tidbits of data with greater levels of specificity.
- Time period – Choose the month you wish to start from to monitor subreddit or keyword performance during a specific time frame.
- Devices – Pick to see which subreddits or keywords perform best on desktop, mobile phones, or overall.
- Gender – Use this option to monitor which posts and subreddits are most popular by gender, or if you want to get the combined result.
- Location – Narrow your monitoring to any one of 18 individual locations, including the United States, Brazil or Singapore, among others, or if you want a worldwide view of Reddit trends.
