Google Business Profile (GBP) Suggestions and Edits

The User Suggestions tab.

Google allows others to make suggestions to your Google Business Profile. Users who feel the information is incorrect can suggest an edit. Sometimes, Google can update your GBP on its own based on what it finds, for example, on your website. 

Even minor changes that go unnoticed can significantly affect your rankings. They can also lead to your potential customers seeing inaccurate information on your GBP.  

Control GBP suggestions and edits in Semrush Local

This Semrush Local feature protects your Google Business Profile from these changes and gives you more control over the accuracy and consistency of business information. 

You can find the tab with GBP suggestions in the GBP Optimization tool. 

This tab is split into two dashboards: Edits and Suggestions.

The User Suggestions tab is highlighted.

User Suggestions:

These are suggested updates by someone online. They have not yet gone live on your Google Business Profile. You can review and accept or reject them one by one or all at once and track the progress in additional tabs to the final acceptance or rejection.

Updates:

These are the recent changes that went live on your Google Business Profile. You can review and leave them be or reject the update and revert this information to the last version on your GBP. As with User Suggestions, you can go through them individually or accept/reject them all at once. 

GBP Suggestions & the Listing Management

There’s a similar feature in the Listing Management interface (available on Essentials and Advanced plans) to monitor user suggestions. 

Please note that the User Suggestions feature in Listing Management collects suggestions from other online directories and review websites but does not include Google Business Profile edits and suggestions.

GBP Suggestions & Call Tracking 

There’s also one more benefit of the GBP Suggestions feature if you are using Semrush Local Listing management: 

Businesses often use call tracking and analytics software that requires actively changing the phone number in their GBP. With the GBP Suggestions feature, it becomes much easier to maintain business information accuracy and consistency since you have more control over which phone number updates affect your listings. 

You can now easily take the phone number update from your GBP and distribute it to all online directories available in the Listing Management, or decide not to implement that change if it’s due to the work of your call tracking software.
